How an Elevated Sandmound Works

The effluent flows through the aggregate and into a pile of sand.  A bio-mat also forms on the surface of the sand aiding in renovation.

The sand also does three other things ...

#1  The sand holds back suspended soils that may have escaped the septic tank(s).  The bio-mat on the sand consumes these solids.

Sand prior to adding aggregate.
