How to Build an Elevated Sandmound Sewage Disposal System
After the berms are installed and graded, the entire elevated sandmound must be seeded with grass. A good quality annual/perennial mix should be used.
Annual grass seed germinates quickly and will provide good initial coverage. However, annual grass does not winter well and the cover will get progressively more sparse each year.
Perennial grass takes more time to take hold but will expand its coverage over time.
Mulch should be applied to prevent erosion and to protect the grass seedlings.
