How to Build an Elevated Sandmound Sewage Disposal System
Connect the laterals to the manifold. Generally the laterals are constructed with 1 1/2 PVC pipe. However, in large commercial or community systems they may be of larger diameter pipe.
The laterals will usually be of equal length. However, they may vary on some plans, especially if the manifold is offset. Consult the permit plans for the system's specifications.
The first picture shows a typical piping pattern where all the laterals are even in length. The second has an off set manifold where pipes are longer on one side of the system. The third shows a pattern of longer and shorter laterals that is often found with larger commercial systems.
