How an Elevated Sandmound Works
The purpose of an elevated sandmound (or any other type of sewage disposal system) is to get the effluent as clean as possible before it reaches contact with ground water, surface water, or well water or before it gains access to the ground surface. This is very important in order to protect the health of the public and to protect the environment.
