SEWAGE DEPARTMENT TRAINING PROGRAM

How to Build an Elevated Sandmound Sewage Disposal System

The spacing of the holes can vary.  Always consult the permit plans for the proper spacing and configuration.

For most single family residential systems, the first hole is located 3 feet from the manifold.  The remaining holes are spaced along the pipe at six foot intervals.  Again, check the plans.  In rare cases, spacing may be up to ten feet and may vary by lateral.

The picture above shows the hole spacing for a typical system.  The red circle represents the manifold pipe.  Note how the first hole is located 3 feet from the manifold.  The rest are located 6 feet on center down the length of the pipe.  The final hole is drilled into the end cap.
