How to Build an Elevated Sandmound Sewage Disposal System
Have the delivery truck deposit the sand near the elevated sandmound site. Do not allow the truck to dump it on the scarified area. Allowing trucks to drive on the scarified soil will result in permit revocation.
Track marks show that a truck ran over this scarified site. The permit for this elevated sandmound was revoked.
From the upslope or ends of the system, use the backhoe bucket to place the sand on the site.
The gray square in the middle of the above drawing represents an elevated sandmound site as seen from above. The arrow points downhill.
The green areas are the area in which work should take place. Soil compression in the green areas would have little affect on the system's operation.
The upslope area (yellow) may be used, but soil compression in this area could retard the exchange of gasses in the soil under the elevated sandmound.
No machine activity should take place in the down slope (red) area. Soil compression in this area could not only retard the exchange of gasses, but could also allow effluent to break out of the ground.
